The African Football Confederation held the draw for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Egypt has been grouped with Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, and Djibouti in Group A for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Each of the nine groups' winners will automatically qualify for the World Cup 2026. The top four runner-ups will compete in a CAF Play-Off tournament. The CAF Play-Off Tournament winner will compete in the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.
The draw took place on Thursday during the 45th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cote d'Ivoire.
